Volunteering to help at 'Booze on the Ouse'

Why?

As always, we cannot run a beer festival without CAMRA members volunteering to help. Every single hour of help offered makes a big difference, so even if you can only spare a little time, please do get in touch.

In addition to serving beer and cider, there are many other jobs to be done whilst we are open to the public. For instance, selling entrance tickets and bar tokens, assisting with the membership stand, stewarding and provision of customer information. So we can offer you lots of variety! We also need help setting up (Monday prior to opening) and taking down (Sunday).

Relevant training will be provided. Please remember that it is illegal to serve alcohol to under 18s and to people who are drunk.

When?

Here's a list of all the times when we need your support:

Mon: From midday: Set up - Putting up the stillage, bars and beers. Refreshments provided for helpers (around ~6.00 pm).
Thu: 11.00 am - 11.00 pm: Open to the public (11.00 am - 10:30 pm)
Fri: 11.00 am - 11.00 pm: Open to the public (11.00 am - 10:30 pm)
Sat: 11:00 am - 11.00 pm: Open to the public (11.00 am - 10:30 pm)
Sun: 9.00 am - 1.00 pm: Take down - Breakfast provided (around ~ 11.00 am).

During all public sessions, volunteers receive food vouchers if they work 4 hours or more for the public food stall.

If you are working a full evening session and you make your own way to the festival venue, we will get you home at the end of the night (lift or taxi). If you will be driving and could offer lifts back please let us know.

There will be a special social for volunteers and new members after the festival (details to be provided when you sign on to volunteer), when we will be buying volunteers who worked at the festival a pint.
